HB Fuller, a leading manufacturer of specialty sealants and adhesives has recently signed up and taken delivery of their second Aisle-Master articulated forklift from Adaptalift Hyster (AALH). So happy were they with their current Aisle-Master and Adaptalift Hyster’s fleet management service that when it came time for a second machine, they didn’t hesitate to purchase another from AALH. “We already had a unit that my predecessor signed up for and have been very happy with. We needed another unit so we stuck with the Aisle-Master as it has been reliable and suits all our needs”, said Jamie Rae, Facility Supervisor at H.B. Fuller.

H.B. Fuller Company is a 120 year old worldwide manufacturer and marketer of adhesives, sealants, coatings, paint and other specialty chemicals, with its headquarters in St Paul, Minnesota, USA. They are a Fortune 500 company with global sales of approximately US$1.4B, of which 58% is in the USA, 21% from Europe, 14% from Latin America and 7% from Asia Pacific operations. H.B. Fuller currently employs some 6,100 people worldwide.

For H.B. Fuller maximising storage space in their Victorian warehouse was of utmost importance, so they needed a machine that could operate in the narrowest of aisles. Also due to their two shift operation they preferred the Aisle-Master’s option of an LPG unit as they felt they didn’t have adequate time for charging. In addition to this they are able to use the Aisle-Master in their yard, receiving goods from truck straight to rack, essentially becoming 2 machines in 1. Jamie explains “Our surfaces are concrete but are not perfect (bumps and small potholes). The Aisle-Master copes very well with the uneven surfaces. It is used for putting away and retrieving raw materials, packaging and finished goods in racking and outdoor areas. It is also used for loading and unloading trucks”.

Prior to signing up their first machine with Adaptalift Hyster, H.B. fuller had issues with downtime and service, not only due to the batteries. “Our previous models cost us a lot of money to maintain and batteries became a real problem for us because our shift patterns did not allow for complete charging and resting periods”, said Jamie.

The Aisle-Master not only provided H.B. Fuller with an immediate solution to the rising maintenance costs of their previous units but also being able to purchase a high lift narrow aisle machine in LPG was a huge advantage. The versatility of the Aisle-Master to work both inside and outside also streamlined truck to rack operations at H.B. Fuller, eliminating double handling of product and reducing the risk of damage, saving them time and increasing their efficiency. But Jamie states “Most important to us is that we have a reliable unit. The Aisle-Master has been reliable - when there is an issue the service from AALH is prompt and we can get a replacement unit for the period if necessary”.

The Aisle-Master, distributed in Australia by Adaptalift Hyster,is produced by Combilift, well known for their safe long load and space saving 4-way machines. The Aisle-Masteris able to work in aisles of just 1.75m with capacities of up to 2000kg and lift heights up to 12m, available in both LPG and Electric (AC), working indoor and out. Build quality is a particular feature of the Aisle-Master range so much so that the manufacturers are currently offering a 5 year parts warranty.
