What Is Powered Mobile Racking – Warehouse Racking Guide: Part 5

Powered mobile racking is an electrically powered racking storage bank involving a framed motor base with wheels that move along floor rails with the press of a button or a remote control. Each racking shelf remains compacted until they are required to be accessed and are opened through creating an aisle space in between the two racking blocks. This aisle space is only required between each racking shelf when the racking is being accessed.

Forklift Manoeuvres – Controlling Rear End Swing

Many accidents occur with industrial forklifts because the operators do not understand or have control of the machine’s rear end swing. Forklift trucks steer from the rear axle and pivot on the front wheels, the rear end (counterweight) swinging wide when turning. Ensure that the rear end swings clear of materials, racks equipment and pedestrians when rounding corners or manoeuvring in aisle and tight places.

Drive-In Racking involves the forklift entering the racking from one side to load or retrieve the pallets which are stored more deeply.
