An Interview With Trevor Lovitt, WA State Manager

Trevor Lovitt was recently appointed as Adaptalift Hyster’s State Manager - WA. Trevor will oversee operations and sales for Western Australia. Previously our Victoria/Tasmania Sales Manager, Trevor has over 18 years of invaluable industry experience. Luckily for us, Trevor was able to take a few minutes from his busy schedule to sit down and tell us a little bit about himself and his transition to the West.

Tell us a bit about your background in the materials handling industry.

I started off in the industry 18 years ago and 25 kilos lighter than I am today.

How long have you been here with us at Adaptalift Hyster?

Just over 2 years.

How has your transition from Sales manager in Victoria to State Manger in Western Australia been? Are you enjoying your current role?

I am enjoying the role, the people here in the west are great and we now have a team of people that are prepared to do what needs to be done to satisfy the needs of our customer’s.  As far as the transition from the two different roles is concerned it’s a learning curve that is happening daily.

What is the most challenging part of your job?

Employing staff in WA is very tough with the mines taking a sizeable proportion of any potential employees. On the other hand, we have a really great team who work very well together, making any obstacles easy to overcome.

What makes Hyster Forklifts stand out from the competition?

We are the only company that sells the very smallest through to the very biggest. We have pallet trucks right up to huge 52 tonne container handlers. No other company has such a vast range of machinery on offer.

Do you have a favourite model? If so, why?

They are all good, but our electric range is extremely underrated. AAL Hyster has 7 electric forklift models to choose from, and a great pallet truck and warehouse equipment range.

What is the most important piece of advice you would give someone who is looking into materials handling equipment?

Always compare apples with apples and compare after sales service. Longevity of the machinery can be assured from after sales service, which is more economical for your company in the long run.

What innovations and advancements in the industry are you most excited about?

I’m most excited about ForkTrackTM, which is our fleet management and safety system. When we get the product in front of customers and you compare it to other similar products on the market it blows them away.

Where do you see the industry 10 years from now?

AALH WA will have 25% of forklift sales nationally for Adaptalift Hyster!!!

If you could sum up Hyster in one word, what would it be?

Workhorse.
